Sedation Dentistry

Oral Sedation

Nobody likes pain, and few people like visiting a dentist or endodontist. If you suffer from dental phobia, have difficulty keeping your mouth open, or require extensive restorative work, consider the benefits of oral sedation.

Initially, we will review your medical history to make sure you can tolerate oral sedation. If the doctor clears you, he will prescribe a dose of an anti-anxiety medication that you will take one hour prior to your appointment. You will need someone to drive you to and from the dental office. The pill works quickly to create calmness, so you will feel drowsy when you arrive. During treatment, we will monitor your vital signs while you are in a sleep-like state.

Patients can respond to any commands or questions, but they will not recall specific events. Beyond creating an optimal environment for you, oral sedation allows us to complete multiple treatments in one appointment. You can rest and relax while we improve your teeth.

Get the care you need. If your general dentist has recommended that you see an endodontist, or if you may need any of our services, please contact our Plano office. At North Texas Endodontic Associates, we care for patients from Plano and the Dallas/Fort Worth area with thorough clinical treatment and gentle, compassionate care, including oral sedation.
